Most Singaporeans prefer to start their careers in Chartered
Accountancy by training with institutes of SCA, which has now been coined CPA Singapore.
However, this trend is of late being overtaken by professionals who are seeking
to qualify the ACCA program which is far more convenient and facile in being
professionally fit and employment ready.
As per official records in the public domain (not verified)
22 percent of CA’s of Singapore are CPA holders and around 36 percent are
qualified in ACCA. This trend obviously shows the reach and acceptance by the
industry towards ACCA qualified accountants vis-à-vis others. This trend will
in the future only show an upward inclination as more and more financial institutions
fill the void of their immediate requirements with ACCA qualified accountants. This
trend is also fuelled by the ready availability of ACCA trained accountants all
over the world and also by the various training centres in Singapore that are
trying their best to provide a solution in filling the vacuum. Currently, as per
reports in the public domain over 210 firms are employing ACCA qualified
accountants.
ACCA has signed an MOU with the Singapore Accountancy Commission
or SAC has permitted ACCA qualifiers and members to join the elite club of Chartered
Accountants of Singapore. This provides a huge opportunity for people all over
the globe to look at Singapore as their next land of opportunity. This also
provides students of ACCA with an opportunity who possess the required skills
to collaborate with Singaporean firms through regional internships on their
path to becoming a competent Chartered Accountant in Singapore with an ACCA
qualification
Singapore being the HQ of most of the global financial
giants require a constant stream of qualified accountants to keep pace with
the growth of the sector and ACCA would provide the highest opportunity to the
budding accountants worldwide who seek to enhance their careers with an ACCA
qualification.
